We want to thank all of you who attended our second meeting for TIME OC last Wednesday. We had another great meeting and our attendance increased as well!
The meetings are broken up into five parts, including NetworkTIMEOC (where everyone gets to talk to each other and network amongst themselves), IntroTIMEOC (where we start the meeting at 6 PM and everyone introduces themselves to the group), TalkTIMEOC (where we have questions with lively discussion about technology), FreeTIMEOC (where we share a free tip for the group), and IdeaTIMEOC (where we talk about past ideas and current new ideas for the group).
IntroTIMEOC got us off to a great start as we all go to know each other better and what we want from the group.
TalkTIMEOC then got started with a NEW addition: the jargon bell. It works pretty simply, actually. Anytime ANYONE in the room doesn’t understand the current discussion, whether it’s because it’s too “techie”, “salesie”, or any other “-ie”, they ring the bell and we break it down. It happened a couple of times that night, and I’m sure it will happen more once everyone gets comfortable with the process. We talked about databases and when to use flat-file ones like Microsoft Excel and when to use relational ones like Microsoft Access, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.
In FreeTIMEOC, we rolled out the FaceBook reveal technique for those that want to have their FaceBook pages show something different to guests that “Like” their page. See our sample here: http://www.facebook.com/timeoc. “Like” the page and see how the image changes!
Lastly, IdeaTIMEOC got a recap of some past ideas and a new idea brought up from a member of the group. We’ve got four ideas now that have a chance of moving along to the next phase of prototyping and might even get funded!
Thanks again to everyone that attended and be sure to invite your friends and RSVP to the next meeting!
